Gemstone Testing

Gemstone testing is conducted by Rachel, a qualified gemmologist who has completed the rigorous FGA (Fellowship of the Gemmological Association) qualification, widely regarded as the gold standard in the industry. If you have any stones you’re unsure about, Rachel offers expert identification and advice to help you understand exactly what you have.

Ashes

We understand how deeply painful it is to lose a loved one. Our bespoke ashes jewellery is thoughtfully designed with discreet compartments to hold a small portion of your loved one’s ashes, keeping them close to your heart always. Each piece is crafted with care, sensitivity, and respect—because every memory deserves to be treasured.

Gold Buying

With gold prices remaining at historically high levels, now is an ideal time to sell jewellery you no longer wear. While online platforms may seem convenient, they don’t always provide the best return. At Jason Charles Jewellery, we offer expert, in-person valuations you can trust—based on the condition, materials, and overall value of each piece.

Have gold with sentimental value? Instead of selling, we can work with you to redesign it into something new and meaningful. Whether it’s an inherited item or a piece with personal history, we’ll help you create a custom design that keeps the memory alive while making it wearable again.

The process is simple—just bring your jewellery along with valid ID and proof of address, and we’ll guide you through your options, whether you’re looking to sell or reinvent.

Jason Charles Jewellery Repair Warranty

At Jason Charles Jewellery, every item entrusted to us is handled with the highest level of care within our dedicated workshop. All repairs we carry out are covered by a 12-month warranty from the date of completion. This warranty is separate from any guarantee that may apply to the original purchase of the item.

Please note, our warranty does not extend to damage caused by accidents (such as impact or dents), misuse, or unusual circumstances. For jewellery not originally purchased from Jason Charles Jewellery, we cannot accept liability for existing stone settings, materials, or workmanship beyond the specific repair undertaken, unless explicitly detailed on your repair record.

This warranty is offered in addition to your statutory rights.

Jason Charles Jewellery – Care & Maintenance Guide

Jewellery is designed to be treasured and enjoyed, but with regular wear it can be vulnerable to damage if not properly cared for. Follow these guidelines to help protect and preserve your pieces.

Everyday Care

  • Avoid water and chemicals – Remove your jewellery before going into the bath, shower, swimming pool, spa or sea. This prevents exposure to chlorine, salt and residues that can damage metal, plating and stones.
  • Take off during activities – Even though precious metals and gemstones are durable, they are not indestructible. Sports, DIY, gardening or other physical activities can result in chips, scratches, dents or even breakage.
  • Remove before bed – It’s easy for jewellery to snag on bedding and for earrings or chains to be lost while you sleep.
  • Keep away from cleaning products – Household detergents and abrasive chemicals can harm both metals and stones.
  • Apply products first – Put on creams, perfumes, hairspray and sunscreen before your jewellery. Cosmetics and sprays can cause tarnishing and discolouration, especially with pearls which are very sensitive.

Cleaning & Inspections

  • Professional cleaning – Bring your jewellery to Jason Charles Jewellery for a professional clean and inspection to keep it looking its best and to spot early signs of wear, such as weakened claws or loose stones.
  • At-home cleaning – Use only products recommended for jewellery. In most cases, warm soapy water with a very soft brush (such as a soft toothbrush) works well. Remember to plug the sink first and dry with a soft cloth or hairdryer to avoid water spots.
  • Regular checks – If you suspect damage, stop wearing the piece and have it examined promptly to avoid further harm or stone loss.

Storage & Protection

  • Store pieces individually in soft cloth or separate compartments to prevent scratches and tangling.
  • Keep valuation paperwork safe and up to date. We recommend having high-value or sentimental jewellery professionally valued and ensuring your insurance policy covers each item correctly.

Gold Plated & White Gold Jewellery Gold Plated Jewellery
Plating naturally wears away with time. How quickly this happens depends on how often the jewellery is worn and how it is cared for. Once the finish starts to fade or change colour, the piece will need to be replated.
Jason Charles Jewellery offers a professional plating service at a fair cost. Please note, as plating always wears over time, repeat servicing will be chargeable. The lifespan of plating cannot be guaranteed.

White Gold Jewellery
White gold has a natural pale yellow tone which is brightened by a rhodium plating finish. This coating will gradually wear away and will need to be reapplied periodically. The frequency depends on the quality of the alloy beneath and how heavily the piece is worn.

At Jason Charles Jewellery, we use a high-quality, palladium-rich white gold in our repairs and bespoke pieces to give the rhodium a longer-lasting finish. However, if the original manufacturer used a lower-grade alloy, the underlying colour may be more yellow, causing the rhodium to appear to wear off more quickly. This is a manufacturing issue, not a fault of Jason Charles Jewellery.

If resizing or alterations are required, we will do our best to match the original alloy. However, where a poor-quality alloy has been used by another jeweller, differences may be visible once the rhodium wears. This is not considered a fault of our work. Should you be unhappy, we can remove our addition, refund the service cost, and you may choose to return the piece to the original maker.
